GFDD and FUNGLODE hope that this book will serve as a point of reference for the national population and the numerous Dominicans that reside outside of the country, as well as for foreign visitors, the nation’s commercial sector, students, art and photography aficionados and all those interested in developing a better understanding of the Dominican Republic.

Dominican Republic: New Perspectives, comprised of 400 aerial images taken from a helicopter is divided in 9 chapters – Reflections of Light, Coasts, Heights, Plains, History, City, People, Tourism and Work – that contain text pertaining to various aspects of the country’s history, culture, environment and contemporary life.

Province of Peravia - The most famous dunes in the Dominican Republic are the Las Calderas dunes, near Baní, where the sea winds and currents have created a peninsula with surprising sand formations and distinctive vegetation. The ecosystem of the Baní Dunes, as they are commonly known, has characteristics that are unique in the Caribbean Region.		Province of Hato Mayor - The Los Haitises National Park, declared a forest reserve in 1968, makes up part of Samaná Bay. Visitors are enchanted by the remarkable beauty of its tropical karstic geological formations among the vertically sloped hills that abound in the water, forming small islands. The park represents one of the spaces of greatest biodiversity in the country and the Caribbean.
